Hi, I’m April Shaw-Beaudoin, interviewer, publisher, marketing strategist, and the voice behind Maine Famous.

I launched Maine Famous in 2022 as a way to connect people through story. What began with me taking photos on my phone has grown into a statewide media platform supported by professional photographers, writers, and videographers who help elevate the way we document Maine’s small businesses. I spend my days interviewing shop owners, chefs, farmers, makers, innkeepers, artists, and entrepreneurs and sharing the stories that reveal the heart of this place.

In 2025 we published The Insider's Guide to Midcoast Maine, a full color coffee table book featuring nearly 100 businesses. Our third book, The Insider's Guide to Downeast Maine, goes to print in January 2026 with circulation slated for May. We continue to expand Maine Famous through regional podcast seasons, live events, and community collaborations. This year we hosted the launch of Season 3 of the Maine Famous Podcast featuring business owners on MDI and in Ellsworth, and we will kick off Season 4 with a January event celebrating the Mountains region of Maine.

Alongside this work I run Omnitizing, the branding and marketing agency I co-own with my husband, Buck. We support organizations across Maine with strategy, design, websites, and storytelling, and we select one partner each year for a pro bono project. Our current partnership is with the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.

Maine Famous exists to amplify local businesses, celebrate the people behind the counter, and help residents and visitors discover the real Maine. If you care about small businesses and the stories that make this place exceptional, you are in the right spot.

Hello, I’m Buck Beaudoin. I’m Buck Beaudoin, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Maine Famous.

Every visual element associated with our brand lives on my desk at some point in its creation. I design our social media graphics, build our website, and handle the layout and full production of our coffee table books. In 2025, I led the rebrand from Camden Famous to Maine Famous, giving the visual identity a modern, clean, and elevated look that reflects where the brand is heading.

Before Maine Famous, I spent more than twenty-five years in the brand and design world, helping grow a creative agency that served Fortune 100 companies. That experience shaped how I think about visual storytelling and how design can influence perception, connection, and trust.

What I love most about Maine Famous is that it allows me to use those decades of experience in a way that feels personal. I get to build something with my wife and business partner, April, and apply high-level creative strategy to the small businesses, makers, and communities we care about. The work matters, the people matter, and it is a joy to create something beautiful that uplifts them.

Maine is home now. I love the coast, the trails, the food, and the history woven into every harbor town. If you enjoy exploring as much as we do, you are in good company.

Hi, I’m Tessa Whitley. I’ve grown up in Midcoast Maine and I love it here. It’s so fun to be part of Maine Famous and celebrate all of the amazing things we have going on.

I joined Maine Famous after interning with the team last summer, and I’m excited to now be part of the core crew helping to tell the stories of this place I love. I just finished up at Chowan University, where I studied communication and marketing, and I’m thrilled to be back in the Midcoast full time. Being part of Maine Famous allows me to combine my love for storytelling with my passion for community — and I’m proud to help showcase the people and places that make this region so special.
