Evergreen Yurts in Bar Harbor

Evergreen Yurts in Bar Harbor sits on land that has been in the Hodgkins’ family for generations, where Northeast Creek meets a stretch of protected wetlands bordering Acadia National Park. The property spans 22 acres, though the yurts themselves occupy a carefully chosen portion of it, placed along existing trails and farm roads.

“My husband, Josh, and I didn’t want to build big houses,” Kate said. “We wanted to do something that respects our land, its beauty, and how long it’s been in our family.”

Evergreen Yurts offers eight, 24-foot yurts, each designed to be comfortable, private, and easy to settle into. Inside, each space includes a queen-sized bed, full bathroom, and compact kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, and all the essentials to make small meals. Heat pumps keep the temperature cool on hot summer days – as well as warm and cozy during chilly evenings (an important detail for guests new to the idea of glamping).

“A lot of our work is about removing the stress of camping,” Kate said. “So once guests arrive, they can enjoy their time and surroundings."

The experience extends beyond the yurt walls. Guests have access to trails that wind through the woods of their property to Northeast Creek, where canoes, paddles, and life jackets are available. The creek’s mix of saltwater and freshwater draws birds and wildlife, making it a quiet favorite for paddling and birdwatching. A shared fire pit creates the occasional moment of connection, though the layout preserves a sense of seclusion.

Kate is always close by but intentionally unobtrusive, offering guidance when needed. She provides communication that is well-detailed and attentive that gives guests the freedom to arrive and settle in on their own timeline.

“When people tell us they felt taken care of without having to ask for anything,” she said, “that’s when I know we did it right.”

Famous for:
A highly comfortable glamping experience on generational land, with full bathrooms, thoughtful design, and direct access to Northeast Creek and Acadia’s protected wetlands.
