Where the working waterfront meets the dining room
“A good business solves a problem. This town had one.”
That realization is what led Ronnie Musetti and Adam Fraley to open The Nor’Easter Pound & Market in 2020. Lifelong friends who grew up in Northeast Harbor, the two had talked for years about running a business together. When they saw the opportunity, it felt obvious. There was nowhere in town to sit down for a proper lobster dinner, and not many places that brought people together across generations.
“We get everyone, from fishermen at the bar to families celebrating with their grandkids.”
That mix is intentional. The Nor’Easter reflects the rhythms of the harbor just outside its doors. Ronnie spends his days on the water, while Adam runs the restaurant, creating a direct line from boat to plate. Much of the seafood is sourced locally, often moving from the ocean to the kitchen within hours. Oysters, mussels, lobster, and fish all come from the surrounding waters, supported by a network of fishermen and growers across Mount Desert Island.
Inside, the menu meets people where they are. Lobster dinners and oysters share space with burgers, wings, and housemade desserts. Nearly everything is made from scratch, a point of pride that sets the kitchen apart.
“We had no restaurant experience. We had to learn on the fly,” says Adam.
They signed their lease just before the pandemic, opening into a season of uncertainty. What followed became a kind of extended soft opening, one that forced them to adapt quickly and trust their instincts.
Today, The Nor’Easter feels settled into its role. A place built by locals, shaped by the community, and designed to bring people back.
