Tucked away on North Haven, Nebo Lodge is more than a destination; it's like stepping into a coastal Maine island dream.

Under the guidance of Chef Robert Flanagan, this spot wraps you in the warmth of island hospitality the moment you walk through the door. For Valentine's Day, the restaurant was transformed with roses, setting a scene straight out of a romantic novel which perfectly complemented the five-course prix fixe meal that followed.

Our evening began with a pair of pineapple and lime mocktails. From there, our dining journey continued on with Toms River oysters (legitimately the best oysters we’ve ever had), the Turner Farm green salad, and a roasted squash bisque with roasted pepitas. The pan-seared scallops were divine, and if they offered them every week, we’d be out there every Saturday. And don’t even get us started on the dessert: a richly flavored bittersweet chocolate cremeux. It was heaven.

What we think makes Nebo truly special, though, extends beyond its cuisine. Managed by Angie Ruffolo-Amato, the owner, and Emma, the innkeeper, the lodge is brimming with a charm that we’ve only ever found on the islands of Midcoast Maine. There’s something special about the history and simplicity that feels both bold and understated. Excuse us for being ‘extra’ for just a moment, but it feels kind of like the past is reaching forward, and it consists of a hug from your great-great grandmother, and a stern reminder from your great-great grandfather.

FAMOUS FOR:
With the inn attached to the restaurant, it’s a full-on destination where you should plan to spend at least 24 hours (if not much longer).
